"The Burnaid dressing saved my son from a hospital stay."
My name is Greg, I am sending you this e-mail to express my absolute
awe for your Burnaid product.
Yesterday afternoon my 2 year old son has tipped a kettle of boiling
water over his legs, my wife rang me at work and described the
burns as follows:
* (R) leg was an intense red colour all the way from just bellow
the groin to the toes.
* (L) leg was an intense red colour from just bellow the knee
to the toes.
I have talked my wife through the first aid on the phone while
expediting my way home, cool with cold running water for at least
ten minutes than apply the Burnaid dressing over the whole burn
area and retain with a bandage.
I got home about 25 minutes after my wife has applied the initial dressing, so I have redressed the burns at this stage they were:
* (R) leg
was bright pink colour all the way from just bellow the groin
to the toes with an intense red area about 9X4 cm around his ankle
and a small red area 0.5X0.5 cm just above his knee.
* (L) leg was pale pink colour from just bellow the knee to the
toes with an intense red area 4X3 cm around his ankle.
My wife and I got our son to the emergency department in the local hospital about further 30 minutes after that, during this time we kept the bandages cool with "Cool IT" aerosol spray, to the hospitals credit this was the first time we received immediate medical attention from a public health provider.
The triage nurse has questioned us about what we dressed the wound with and become very concerned when we told her about Burnaid dressing as she has never heard of this before.
Couple of ambulance officers, that were in the emergency delivering a patient stumbled into the room to assist, as you can imagine a 2 year old screaming at the top of his lungs with both legs bandaged up commands a lot of attention. They became very concerned when told about the Burnaid dressing as they have never heard about the product before.
The triage nurse with the help of the ambos, undid the bandages and lifted the Burnaid dressing initially they thought were playing a practical joke on them as they couldn't't't see any evidence of a burn. Only after revealing the blister around my sons (R) leg they became convinced that there was an actual burn.
After looking at each other they put the dressing straight back on and bandaged him up again.
After again describing the initial extent of the burns the following comments were received from the medicos:
*The Nurse
- "Incredible, I've never seen this stuff before, this is
great"
*The Ambos - " Sh** mate, you've got better stuff at home
than what we use"
By the time a doctor came to examine the burns and removed the dressing the burns looked like this:
* (R) leg
was a natural skin colour with an excetion of a small blister
above the knee and a 9X4 cm blister around his ankle with the
top layer of the skin on the blister starting to peel.
* (L) leg was a natural colour with the exception of a 4X3 cm
blister around his ankle which showed no evidence of peeling.
All the medical staff were in agreement thet through the combination of effective cooling and the use of the Burnaid dressing my son made an increadible recovery, and without the above considering the large areas of body involved he would be in agonising pain and certainly hospitalised. As it stands he was released to go home couple of hours later and reffered to the burns unit at Weastmead for a check up this morning as a precaution.
I cannot find enough words of praise and appreciation for your product, the Burnaid dressing has saved my son from a hospital stay and extreame pain, any parrent will understand the gratitude I feel for that.
My only concern is the lack of knowledge about the product within the medical community. Please get out there, tell people about it, market it so more people can be helped by its use.
